Character Information

Character: Daisy Johnson
Canon: Agents of SHIELD (MCU), end of 7x13 after destroying the Chronicom ships
Age: 31
History: Link
Possessions: Quake suit
Weapon: Daisy's powers are her main weapon. She does utilize the gauntlets of her suit to focus her abilities and protect herself from the harm they cause her, but they are useless without her powers. (But if that crosses the line of what is allowed, she can arrive with just her protective suit and no gauntlets!)

Powers/Abilities: "Vibration Manipulation"
Daisy is an Inhuman, a human with alien genetic material mixed into her DNA that, when activated, changes the person at a molecular level. Through her Inhuman powers, she can sense and tap into the vibrational energy of everything around her, manipulating what is vibrating and at what frequency.

ยป concussive blasts; She can generate and focus powerful concussive waves of vibrating air in the form of directed concussive blasts, varying in intensity from breaking glass to crushing bone to toppling a solid structure. She can also use the blasts to propel herself into the air and cushion her falls.
ยป vibrational absorption; She can absorb a larger quantity of vibrations, such as from an earthquake, but can only hold them for so long or risk causing irreparable damage to herself.
ยป disintegration; She can cause molecules to vibrate violently enough that the bonds between them are destroyed, causing whatever she is using her powers on to disintegrate into the atmosphere.
ยป force-field generation; She can shape vibrating air into physical fields that can block both energy and physical objects.
ยป sound manipulation; Since sound is the vibration of air molecules, she is acute to sounds that other people can not hear and can reproduce certain sound frequencies.

ยป physical consequences; Attempting to forcefully internalize and hold back her powers or using them excessively without proper protection puts an excessive strain on her body and may lead to internal injuries like ruptured veins, hairline bone fractures, or other severe consequences. Even with her protective equipment, trying to do something on the level of blowing up a spaceship (ie, her canon point) will result in broken bones and other internal damage, which will prevent her powers from being game-breaking.

Application Questions

Who is the most important person in their life and why? What might be different if this person hadn't been around?

Phil Coulson's influence on Daisy's life cannot be overstated. He believed in her when no one else did and showed her that she could be valued for who she was rather than what she could do for others. He gave her a purpose in life through SHIELD, and he showed her what a father's love looked like. They risked their lives time and again for each other, and there is truly nothing one would not do for the other.

If Daisy had never met Coulson, the trajectory of her life would have been very different. Perhaps she would have wasted away as a hacktivist for another few years, until she pissed off the wrong person and got herself arrested. Or perhaps she would have continued in her attempt to find information on her parents until her search led to a reunion that would recruit her to her mother's side and have her join Jiaying in her attempted massacre of humanity to protect the Inhumans. Or, worse still, that Hydra's scientists would have discovered her Inhuman heritage and she would have faced the same horrific fate as her mother without the ability to survive it.

In short, without Phil Coulson, Daisy would have ended up as the victim or the villain, when she was always meant to be the hero.

Is there an event in your character's life that they'd do differently? How so and why?

If Daisy could go back, she would be more vigilant while trying to stop Hive's plan. She was so focused on trying to load the bomb that would turn millions of humans into twisted abominations under Hive's control that she didn't notice Lincoln board the quinjet. The man she loved sacrificed himself to stop her from doing the same as a way to atone for the terrible things she'd done under Hive's control, and even now that she's had time to process his loss and accept it wasn't her fault, she would still trade places with him in a heartbeat if given the chance to go back and stop him from boarding the quinjet. After a lifetime of feeling as though she is less than, Daisy will always put others first, no matter the cost to herself or the impact it would have on others.

What's the greatest challenge you foresee your character facing in the setting?

Her greatest challenge in this setting will be a combination of being unable to accept that she can't save everyone and being on her own. Daisy has embraced the hero life with her entire being, regularly risking her own life in order to protect others — her canon point illustrates this perfectly as she just sacrificed her life to save the Earth from an alien invasion. Being in a brutal landscape such as this will be a struggle for her to accept because she's supposed to keep people safe, but there is too much working against her in this crime-ridden world, not to mention the horrors that await beyond the cities' borders. Despite this, she will still try to do whatever she can to protect whoever she can, and without someone at her side to recognize her self-sacrificing tendencies and keep her from going too far, she's likely to do the bare minimum to look after herself.

What's the easiest thing you foresee your character adapting to in the setting?

Unfortunately, being on her own will be the easiest part of her new "life" to adapt to. Daisy grew up alone without a family or any lasting friendships to support her, and it wasn't until she met Coulson at age 25 that she knew what it was to be truly wanted and accepted by others who didn't just want something from her. Even with her team's positive influence, it was still all too easy for her to fall back on old ways after losing Lincoln — she blamed herself for his death and went off on her own for the better part of a year, essentially punishing herself through isolation. She won't quite go to those extremes in the Diadem, at least not at first. But if she loses too much or fails too often... Who can say?
